Charles J. Fleck is an attorney whose practice is limited to the domestic relations area. Prior to joining Schiller DuCanto and Fleck LLP in 1982, Mr. Fleck has served in the state legislature and the judiciary. He served three terms in the Illinois General Assembly, where he was a member of the House Judiciary Committee and served as chairman of the Domestic Relations Subcommittee. Mr. Fleck served as a judge for the Circuit Court and was appointed chief presiding judge of the Domestic Relations Division of the Cook County Circuit Court. He has been listed by Town & Country magazine as one of the country's foremost matrimonial lawyers and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America from 1984 to 2009 editions. He has been selected by his peers as a "Leading Lawyer" representing 5% of the top lawyers in Illinois and was selected by his peers as a "Super Lawyer" again representing 5% of the top lawyers in Illinois. Mr. Fleck has been involved in drafting major divorce legislation, including laws governing no-fault, property division, custody and visitation. Over his career, he has litigated complex cases involving property division and business and other asset valuation issues, custody, child removal, and maintenance (alimony) and support. The Lake County Circuit Court certified Mr. Fleck as both a Mediator for the Lake County Family Law Division Mediation Program and as a Child Representative to represent the interest of children in contested custody cases. He has lectured at the Illinois Judicial Conference, American Bar Association conventions, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association and many Chicago and suburban bar associations in the area of domestic relations. Mr. Fleck has numerous written Law Journal articles, articles for the Illinois Bar Association, the American Bar Family Law Journal and other state and local bar associations.
