Jay P. Dahlin is a partner with Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP whose practice concentrates on financially complex divorce matters and contested custody litigation. He has successfully tried numerous cases, winning custody and support for both fathers and mothers in Cook, Lake, DuPage and McHenry Counties. Mr. Dahlin has extensive experience in multi-jurisdictional and international support, valuation, custody and enforcement matters. He has litigated and consulted on matters involving parties’ interests in various states, as well as foreign nations such as India, Mexico, Israel, South Africa, Thailand, the United Kingdom and Germany. In March 2010, as part of a Florida custody proceeding, Mr. Dahlin directed the location, recovery and return of a one-year old child who had been taken from her home in Florida by one of her parents. In 2009 and 2010 Super Lawyers named Mr. Dahlin an Illinois Rising Star, and in 2008 he was named one of Illinois’ “40 Under 40 Attorneys to Watch” by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company.
Mr. Dahlin serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the DePaul University College of Law, an IICLE speaker on “Analysis and Attack of Custody Evaluation Reports,” and is a graduate of the prestigious American Bar Association Trial Advocacy Institute. Mr. Dahlin obtained his Bachelor of Arts (1998) and his Juris Doctorate (2001) degrees from the University of Illinois, where he was a Lincoln Scholar, a James Scholar, and received the Rickert Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy as well as the CALI Award for Outstanding Performance in Estates and Trusts. Upon graduation, he practiced complex commercial litigation for a large international firm before joining Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP in 2003. Mr. Dahlin is a former clerk for both the offices of the United States Attorney and the Illinois Attorney General, and is a member of the American and Illinois Bar Associations.
