Thomas Villanti Speaks At IICLE 66th Annual Estate Planning Short Course
Schiller DuCanto & Fleck is pleased to announce that Partner Thomas Villanti will be speaking on "Navigating Trust & Estate Issues in Divorce Litigation" at the highly anticipated Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) 66th Annual Estate Planning Short Course on May 23, 2023, hosted at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza in Chicago.
Thomas will present on a panel alongside Robin Maher of Levin Schrader & Carey, moderated by David Braden of Yudell and Lonoff. Together, they will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the intricate legal landscape at the intersection of divorce litigation and estate planning. Attendees will gain invaluable insights into crucial aspects, including the considerations of trust assets in divorce proceedings, protection and representation of trust assets, privacy rights, beneficiary interests, and the discovery of trusts and other expectancy interests within divorce cases.
Having litigated countless cases involving multi-million-dollar estates involving trusts, Thomas has extensive knowledge of the interplay between trusts and estate issues in a divorce. He will offer practical strategies and drafting considerations for estate planners, taking into account the factors that may be considered by a divorce court when determining the extent to which trust assets should be considered in divorce proceedings.
