Brianna Steger Ambre is an associate at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP. She focuses her practice on high net worth family law cases involving the dissolution of marriage, parentage, custody issues, maintenance (formerly known as alimony), modification, pre and post nuptial agreements, and other family law related matters. Her exceptional legal research abilities, strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and experience working for the judges of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Domestic Relations Division under former Presiding Judge Grace G. Dickler allows her to craft creative and strategic solutions to set her clients up for a successful future.

Prior to joining Schiller DuCanto & Fleck, Brianna was a Division Attorney for the Domestic Relations Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where she researched contested legal issues and drafted memoranda, opinions, and orders for numerous sitting Domestic Relations Division judges, created easily digestible handouts outlining complex legal topics in plain language for publication by the court, and revised and implemented court procedures and rules to improve court functions. She also monitored relevant legislative updates and case law, regularly presenting her findings to the Division judges. Brianna worked closely with former Presiding Judge Grace G. Dickler, assisting with matters related to Judge Dickler’s various committee appointments including the Cook County Committee on Domestic Violence Court, the Domestic Relations Standardization Committee, the statewide Language Access Committee, the Cook County Pro Se Advisory Committee, and the Domestic Relations Division Post-Pandemic Committee. Brianna’s experience working with the Circuit Court of Cook County allowed her insights on the inner workings of the court, a benefit to her clients given her established relationships with the judges.

Brianna earned her Juris Doctor and Certificate in Child and Family Law from Loyola University School of Law in 2020. While in law school, Brianna exclusively focused on family law advocacy. Brianna was a fellow of the competitive Civitas ChildLaw Fellowship Program, served as the ChildLaw section Legal Writing Tutor and participated as an Executive Board Member of the Children’s Legal Rights Journal. Brianna was also an Executive Board Member of Loyola’s educational law advocacy program and represented child clients of the program in disputes with Chicago Public Schools, particularly concerning the proper implementation of disability accommodations. She was a clinician in the Loyola University Chicago Civitas ChildLaw Clinic, in which she represented and advocated for children in high-conflict family law matters as a Child Representative, and in the Family Law Legislation and Policy Clinic, in which she closely studied law and policy impacting domestic relations cases in Illinois.

Outside of school, Brianna held law clerk positions with various family law firms and organizations where she gained hands on experience working with the financial aspects of divorce. During her time in law school and while earning her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Brianna acquired extensive experience working closely with parents, children, therapists, caseworkers, and other professionals to advocate for her clients and advance the well-being of the family system during times of disruption and change.
