Kimberly Furrer is a family law attorney at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP. Ms. Furrer is a passionate advocate for her clients and believes strongly in working with her clients directly to evaluate their goals and develop clear strategies to obtain them. Prior to joining Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP, Ms. Furrer began her career as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Lake County, Illinois. As an Assistant State’s Attorney, Ms. Furrer handled complex misdemeanor and felony matters. She also gained extensive trial and general litigation experience, conducting over twenty jury trials and countless bench trials. Most recently, Ms. Furrer handled criminal prosecution of domestic violence cases. This experience has given her a unique perspective on interpersonal and interfamily issues, and how parenting interplays with these matters. These experiences have also provided Ms. Furrer with an understanding and familiarity with what families experience during divorce and separation. She is able to give direct and unambiguous guidance to her clients during the most difficult times in their lives. Ms. Furrer is an experienced litigator, with the ability to obtain the desired result for her clients both in the courtroom as well as through out of court negotiations and settlements.

Ms. Furrer is a lifelong resident of Lake County and is active in the community. She is a member of the Lake County Bar Association and the Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County. She volunteers her time as a board member for the Alexander Leigh Center for Autism, as well as a volunteer with high school mock trial competitions, and with Waukegan 2 College, an organization focused on helping students prepare to enroll in and graduate from four year universities.
Ms. Furrer obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Philosophy at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She later earned her Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2011. In law school, Ms. Furrer focused her studies on litigation and trial advocacy, as well as clinical experiences.
