Meet Michael

Bio

Michael (Mike) Barnas is the firm’s Chief Information Officer and has over 20 years of senior management experience with companies in the legal, health care, and educational sectors. Mike is responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of all the firms’ technology services including infrastructure, application development, security, messaging, and various other cloud and mobile platforms. 

Prior to joining Schiller DuCanto & Fleck, Mike was the Applications and Development Director for Dentons US and Asia Pacific regions. He was a lead member of the IT executive team during the firm’s massive global expansion and was responsible for supporting the firm’s administrative and practice group applications, CRM, business intake/conflicts, corporate and client intranets/extranets, data warehouse applications, and business process management systems. Mike is a Computerworld Premier 100 Leader and an active member of the International Legal Technology Association. Before he started his IT career, Mike served in the Air Force as a Military Police K-9 bomb and drug detection trainer and handler.

Mike’s more notable accomplishments include:  

  • Strategic development and implementation of the firm’s infrastructure, computing, remote access, and training and support structure

  • Co-led the development of the global IT strategy and support structure that consolidated services and technical teams in US and EMEA, with an emphasis on world class service and a mutual understanding and respect for the many diverse regional and cultural differences.

  • Partnered with senior leadership teams to develop and execute massive integration strategy for firms acquired in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing.  Mobilized onsite implementation teams in all regions within 48hrs consisting of application and desktop services (email, CRM, document management, financial, time and billing, new business intake, etc.), network operations, help desk, and training.

  • Directed the development and implementation of various mobile and remote access solutions for core enterprise systems that were profiled by Citrix and Apple for the innovative use of their technologies, and selected for their Global Innovation Awards at Synergy World conferences in San Francisco and Barcelona.
