Morgan Handwerker is an associate at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP. She focuses her practice on complex business financial analyses, property distribution, child support, maintenance, and parenting issues. She assists clients with all aspects of dissolution of marriage. Well regarded for her strong financial acumen, exceptional writing and communication skills, Morgan prides herself on providing clients with the essential tools needed to achieve a favorable outcome in family law disputes. In addition to her litigation practice, Morgan is a certified mediator.

During law school, Morgan served as a law clerk through the rigorous program at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck where she worked on high stakes cases involving financial issues, international parenting disputes, child support, and maintenance matters. Upon passing the Illinois State Bar, Morgan was hired on as a full-time associate with the firm.

Morgan also completed a Judicial externship with the Circuit Court of Cook County, Domestic Relations Division where she was assigned to the Honorable Judge William Yu. Her duties included extensive legal research and legal writing projects. Additionally, Morgan held law clerk and internship positions at the Treasury of the City of Chicago and other family law firms where she gained insights to the legislative policies in Illinois, as well as hands on experience in divorce and custody cases.

Passionate about helping others, Morgan also interned with Ascend Justice, formerly known as the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, where she assisted with case preparation and Orders of Protection. She interviewed clients, helped prepare affidavits and emergency orders of protection petitions, and conducted legal research.

Morgan earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law in 2022, where she focused her studies on Family Law, earning certificates in Child and Family Law as well as Tax Law. While in law school, Morgan represented children in highly contested divorce proceedings as a Child Representative through Loyola’s Civitas ChildLaw Clinic.

During her law school career, Morgan consistently made the Dean’s List and was recognized for the Best Brief at the Loyola University Chicago Intraschool Moot Court Competition in 2021. She served as Executive Symposium Editor of the Children’s Legal Rights Journal, Treasurer and Secretary of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, and was a student representative for the Student Conduct Faculty Committee and the Technology Faculty Committee. Morgan was also a member of the ABA Negotiation Team and Decalogue Society. Morgan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehigh University where she majored in political science and religious studies.
